Separate long-term storage from a trip to a meetup. A box that stacks neatly at home is not automatically a protective carrying case.
What to measure
- Measure each piece in the orientation it will travel, with delicate ears, hands or accessories included.
- Compare clear compartment dimensions after dividers and padding are fitted. Check whether the lid presses on the tallest part.
- Measure the loaded box against the bag or vehicle space. Check handles, latches and the stated load limit, not just the empty-box size.
