Importing an adult doll, by country

Australia	Adult-form dolls legal to import. Childlike dolls carry up to 15 years — enforcement is active and aggressive.
New Zealand	Lawful in principle, but the seizure standard is broader and vaguer than Australia's — read before ordering.
United States	No federal ban on adult-form dolls — but the $800 duty-free allowance every other guide still quotes was abolished in August 2025.
Canada	Legal unless classified as obscene under Tariff Item 9899.00.00 — and the CAD 20 threshold most guides miss means China-origin shipments are always taxable.
United Kingdom	No prohibition identified on adult-form dolls. Importing a childlike doll is prosecuted — though simple possession is still not an offence.
Germany	Adult-form dolls fine. Childlike dolls are criminal to merely possess — and the €150 duty-free threshold was abolished on 1 July 2026.
Japan	Legal, and the home of the industry's premium manufacturers — but Japan is the one country where childlike dolls are also legal, which is a trap for foreign buyers.
South Korea	Legal since the customs guideline of December 2022, reaffirmed by the Supreme Court in April 2026 — after years of seizures and litigation.
Singapore	Not on any prohibited list and no statute bans it — but an officer can still classify it as an obscene article. A grey zone, not a safe harbour.
Malaysia	Treat as prohibited. Enforcement is active and seizures are routine — our advice is not to attempt import.
Thailand	Illegal to import, with real criminal exposure. Open sale in local markets gives a false sense of safety — the border is the chokepoint.
