TPE vs Silicone: the honest comparison
The one-question decision rule: "Will I actually keep up a monthly maintenance routine?" If yes — TPE gives you the softest feel for hundreds less. If you're honest with yourself and the answer is no — buy silicone or don't buy at all. An unmaintained TPE doll degrades, stains and can grow mold.

What shops don't emphasize

- Hybrids exist and are a smart middle path: silicone head (durable makeup, best facial realism) on a TPE body (soft, cheaper). Many factories offer this configuration.
- "Silicone" under ~$1,000 full-size is a red flag. Real platinum silicone is expensive raw material. Impossible prices mean TPE mislabeled as silicone — or a counterfeit shop.
- Weight is similar in both materials — material choice won't save you from the weight problem. A full-size doll is 55–100+ lb either way; if that's a concern, consider a torso or compact build first.
